Why Events and Activities Matter in Early Childhood
At St. Joseph’s International School, we believe that special events and activities help children learn about the world, explore different cultures, and understand the values we all share. Whether in the National or American section, students grow by celebrating together—building friendships, learning new ideas, and connecting with their community.
For young learners, these moments support both learning and emotional growth. That’s why we celebrate national and international events with stories, songs, dress-up days, crafts, games, and food.
We ask families to join us in helping children understand the joy and importance of participating. Each celebration is a chance for students to learn, imagine, share, and have fun!
Examples of Celebrations Include:
- Birthdays
- Mother’s Day
- World Book Day
- International Day
- Christmas
- Ramadan
…and many more!
Costumes for Celebrations
Some events may require children to wear costumes. These do not need to be expensive! We encourage families to create simple costumes at home using what you already have. Costumes made with love bring the biggest smiles.
For three major school events—Christmas, Mother’s Day, and the End-of-Year Celebration—the school will provide special costumes for all students. A small fee will be collected to cover the cost.
Please note: Students must wear the school-provided costume to attend these three main celebrations.
For other events, you are welcome to prepare a costume that fits the theme. We’ll share all the details in advance.
Birthdays at School
We’re happy to celebrate your child’s birthday!
Please let the KG administration know 2 days ahead if you’d like to send in treats (like cupcakes and juice) for the class. Children may also bring small snacks to share with friends during snack time.
Field Trips
Students will have opportunities to go on field trips during the year to support their learning and development. You’ll receive information in advance about dates, locations, and any costs.
Please keep in mind:
- Parents are responsible for trip costs (e.g., entry fees, transport).
- Students not joining the trip should stay home, as all teachers will be supervising the trip.
Celebrating Our World Together
Celebrations are a big part of how children grow. They learn about kindness, different traditions, and how to feel proud of who they are. Events also help build imagination, creativity, and self-confidence.
Let’s make the school year full of happy memories by sharing our cultures, foods, and traditions—big and small—together.
