High School Program - (Grades 10-12)

At St. Joseph’s Private Language School – American Section, our high school program is thoughtfully structured to equip students in Grades 10 through 12 with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for success in university and beyond. With a strong emphasis on academic excellence and college readiness, our curriculum nurtures critical thinking, effective communication, and analytical reasoning—skills essential for post-secondary achievement.

Students engage in a comprehensive course of study with daily instruction in core subjects including English Language Arts, Mathematics (covering Algebra II, Statistics, Calculus, and Mechanics), and Arabic. To further support their university preparation, students also participate in specialized test preparation classes targeting key entrance exams such as the EST, ACT, and SAT. This strategic approach ensures that every student is well-prepared to meet the academic challenges of higher education.

In addition to core academics, students explore a wide range of subjects including the sciences (Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Oceanography), Social Studies (Ancient and Modern World History, Economics), French or German, Computer Science, Art, Music, and Physical Education. Students also follow Ministry of Education requirements, studying Religion (Islamic or Coptic) and Social Studies in Arabic.

Career Pathways

At the end of Grade 11, students choose a focused academic track based on their career interests:

  • Engineering Track: Chemistry, Mechanics, and Honors Physics

  • Medical Track: Chemistry, Calculus, and Honors Biology

  • Liberal Arts Track: Oceanography, Psychology, and Sociology

All students, regardless of their selected track, continue to study English Language Arts, Visual Design, Economics, Statistics, and the required Ministry of Education subjects: Arabic, Religion, and Social Studies.

Advanced Placement (AP) Program

Our AP program offers college-level courses using the official College Board curriculum. These challenging courses provide students with the opportunity to earn college credit and demonstrate advanced academic capabilities. Enrollment is based on administrative or teacher approval, and students are expected to sit for the AP exam in May. A signed commitment form from both student and parent is required to confirm participation.

Honors Courses

The Honors sequence is designed for students who are ready for more demanding coursework. These classes foster advanced analytical thinking and critical evaluation aligned with the upper levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy. Admission is by teacher or administrative recommendation, and enrollment is contingent upon previous academic performance. A letter of commitment from both students and parents is required.

Enrichment Opportunities

Beyond the classroom, high school students have access to a range of enrichment experiences. These include visits to local universities and participation in university fairs, helping students explore future academic pathways. In addition, our annual Job Shadowing Program provides real-world exposure to career opportunities in fields such as medicine, engineering, hospitality, and the liberal arts, leveraging the vibrant professional environment of Sharm el Sheikh.
